  1. War Memorial Park Pavilion

This park is located at 5110 W. Markham St. and it’s one of the most popular parks in the midtown area, War Memorial features a playground and loads of walking trails. Its main attraction is the splash pad, with creeks, rivers, and waterfalls to play in, and boulders to climb. Caves and rock crannies are laced with water sprays for an outstanding outdoor experience.

  1. Burns Park

Burns Park, along the Arkansas River, is one of the nation’s largest municipal parks. It boasts 1,700 acres of outdoor space, complete with playgrounds, a BMX bike racing track, ball fields, a seasonal amusement park, and a dog park. There’s Victory Lake for water skiing and fishing, tennis courts, and pavilions with picnic tables. Try your hand at archery, or tee-off at the 18-hole tournament golf course, and discover the new 18-hole FootGolf course.

  1. Riverview Skate Park

Located at 2800 River Road, Riverview Skate Park is the perfect destination for active and adventurous families who love to skate. It features an impressive, professionally designed skate park with plenty of flow, a street course, a U-shaped bowl, a spine, three roll-ins, and so much more.

Riverview also offers a traditional playground for the younger kids, picnic area, and lots of space for open play, like kite flying, all along the banks of the beautiful Arkansas River. Ride your bike from the park along the River Trail. This path leads to other popular city parks, including Burns Park and the neighborhood Emerald Park.

  1. Meriwether Park

Next time you’re in midtown for some retail therapy, head to Meriwether Park at 1401 Florida St. It’s located just steps from Park Plaza Mall. This inviting little urban getaway is the ideal place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It features a baseball field, tennis courts, a rocket slide, and swings. There’s a paved trail to stroll and plenty of shade for a relaxing respite. Why not grab your friends or co-workers for a game of Frisbee on the large open field?
