Crater of Diamonds

Spanning 37.5 acres, Crater of Diamonds is a diamond site where you get to keep the treasures you dig up. Unlike other diamond sites in America, this is the only one where you can go home with the loot you discover. Crater of Diamonds used to be home to a volcano that brought diamonds to Earth’s surface over 100 million years ago. When you visit, you can dig for treasure or explore the various historical buildings that still stand to this day. It’s located in Murfreesboro on State Park Road.

Arkansas Arts Center

If you’re interested in arts and culture, consider stopping by the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. Located at 501 E 9th Street, the Arkansas Arts Center houses various galleries and exhibition spaces. The center has art collections, Old Master paintings, prints, and watercolors by American modernist John Marin.

Buffalo National River

Nature enthusiasts can enjoy the great outdoors with a visit to the Buffalo National River. This river stretches across 135 miles and offers the opportunity for a variety of outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and canoeing. It also features caverns and bluffs thanks to the Ozark Mountains.

Whitaker Point

Whitaker Point is home to breathtaking views of the Buffalo National River from way up high. Located in Kingston, this trailhead offers a scenic hiking route that’s approximately three miles long. The hike itself is considered moderate and features a waterfall. Since it’s a popular trailhead, you can expect heavy traffic from other hikers.

Magnolia Falls

Another hike with gorgeous views is the Magnolia Falls trailhead. Once you reach the end of the trail, you’re greeted by the 26-foot waterfall and rock formations. The area in general offers scenic views of a lush forest environment. The Magnolia Falls hike is 2.1 miles long with moderate traffic. It’s also dog- and kid-friendly and good for all skill levels. Magnolia Falls is located in Newton County in Northwest Arkansas. This area is part of the Upper Buffalo Wilderness in the Ozark National Forest.

Roark Bluff

Wilderness fans can also enjoy the beauty of Roark Bluff in Ponca Township. This location offers great photo opportunities for photographers. It also has a hike that leads to the top of Roark Bluff where you get stunning views of this and the Steel Creek area from above. The trail is 2.2 miles roundtrip and is of moderate difficulty. Roark Bluff also has a waterfall and is right on the Buffalo River. Given the water crossing and cliff, it’s best suited for older children and adults.
